This Custom Build was built by none other than @Jakepfb on Instagram! He stopped by the shop, and we had to squeeze him in to film something with us. So he pieced this bad boy together that consists of his signature Kalye Deck, Blackriver Trucks, and Maple Wheels.
Kalye Decks was established in 2016 by Christian Gonzales and is handcrafted with the help of Jude Lugtu in Oceanside, California. Christian was born in the Philippines and wanted to represent his country with Kalye. Everything from their graphics to molds is inspired by Philippine street culture. Information on each mold can be found below, along with an incredible video about Kalye. Their story is much greater than what I could fit here, so I highly recommend watching the video!
Urban Mold: The Urban is more aggressive than the Rural, and features medium kick degrees, and a deeper concave. This paired with the length and wheelbase from the Rural makes the Urban mold extremely responsive.
The original pro fingerboard trucks are back and revamped with reinforced steel single axles, strengthened lock-nuts, and thicker, reinforced baseplates. Blackriver has also added an embossed skull onto the baseplate itself so the attention to detail is on another level for the 3.0s. The popular name for these trucks are "BRT's". Hand crafted in Germany, these trucks are made to perfection. Built by fingerboarders for fingerboarders to give a realistic feel with the highest quality standards.
The Maple Wheels ULTRA are handmade in Quebec, Canada, and give you a realistic feel for your fingerboard. They're constructed out of urethane and feature a 70D durometer. They also come with ABEC-9 bearings that are locked into the wheel, making them have less chatter/wobble.
