Frequently Asked Questions

What are the different types of scooter clamps?

Clamps usually come in 2 versions: 2-bolt and SCS clamps. 2-bolt clamps are needed to run IHC, HIC, and ICS compression and will be used on bars with a slit cut into them. SCS clamps are needed to run SCS compression with bars that do not have a slit in them.

What is the difference between an oversized and standard-sized clamp?

Oversized and standard-sized are used to describe the diameter of scooter bars and the clamps that go alongside them. An oversized bar will always require an oversized clamp. A standard-sized bar, however, can either use a standard-sized clamp or an oversized clamp with the use of a clamp shim.

What is an SCS Clamp?

SCS clamps are taller, 4-bolt clamps that have your compression system built into them. While with a 2-bolt clamp, you’ll have to also use an IHC or HIC kit on your fork, an SCS clamp has everything built into it. The bottom half of the clamp gets installed directly on top of your fork, and the top half of the clamp holds your bars. Because the bars are not going over the fork, they do not need a slit in them. SCS clamps are heavier, and a bit more pricey than double clamps, but they are much more durable, easy to use, and will make your bars last longer due to them not needing a slit in them.
