Frequently Asked Questions

What to look for in a scooter deck?

There are three main things to consider when picking out your new deck: size, weight, and shape (boxed vs. non-boxed). You’ll want to select the right combination of these 3 factors to ensure you get the right deck for you and your riding style.

What is the difference to a boxed or non-boxed scooter deck?

The rear end of a scooter deck can come in 2 shapes for the most part: boxed and non-boxed. A boxed deck is when the entire deck profile continues to the back end. A non-boxed deck taper or angle is at the end of the deck, near your axle. The benefits to a boxed deck are that it will provide you more surface area to lock into grinds such as feebles, 50-50’s, and 5-0’s. A non-boxed or angled deck does not have this benefit, but being angled like this, it makes your deck lighter and more aerodynamic for tricks. Another added factor of non-boxed or angled decks is that you can install pegs on your deck to give you that extra surface area for grinds like a boxed deck.

What are deck sizes, and how do they affect riding?

Decks come in varying sizes for both the width and length of the deck. A smaller deck in both width and length will be more lightweight and aerodynamic and make your park tricks easier to pull off. A wider deck will be more comfortable and make most grinds much easier since you’ll have more wiggle room to lock into them. A longer deck will again give you more footspace, which will feel more comfortable and affect the ‘balance’ point of the deck for grinds and manuals. For deck length, the main factor is personal preference and riding style.

Shop Scooter Decks at The Vault, featuring a wide selection built for durability, control, and dependable performance across all riding styles. Our Scooter Decks collection includes industry leading brands like Aztek, Ethic, Native, Tilt, UrbanArtt, Envy, and more, stocked with options trusted by riders around the world.

Our Scooter Decks collection includes some of the most popular sizes in modern scootering, ranging from compact 18.5" long decks built for responsive park riding, up to oversized 24" long and 7" wide decks designed for maximum street control and grind space. Riders can choose from widths starting around 4.75" wide all the way up to 7" wide depending on their riding style and preferred feel.

Each scooter deck is designed with unique geometry, dimensions, and weight distribution to create a different riding experience. Headtube angle is one of the biggest factors in deck feel, affecting responsiveness, front end balance, and overall steering control. Steeper headtube angles typically create a quicker, more reactive feel, while slacker angles provide additional stability for technical street riding and larger setups.

The Vault stocks Scooter Decks compatible with common wheel sizes including 100mm, 110mm, 120mm, and 125mm, along with decks designed for modern 12STD setups. Riders can also choose between boxed and non boxed deck styles. Boxed Scooter Decks provide larger grind surfaces and added foot space, while non boxed decks reduce weight and increase responsiveness for technical tricks.

Our Scooter Decks collection also features signature decks from top riders including Reece Doezema, Jonathan Perroni, Will Scott, Issac Miller, and Kai Saunders.

Whether you are upgrading your current setup or building a full custom scooter, The Vault carries Scooter Decks built for progression, durability, and reliable performance.
